This tie pin gift presented to Foreign Secretary William Hague at the event in Berlin was made by the Art and Design Research Centre's Maria Hanson.  Maria made the gift as part of her work on the "What's In My Stuff?" project which, along with MERI staff Dr Hywel Jones and Dr Karen Vernon-Parry, has explored the attitudes and knowledge we have of the chemical elements that go in to the making of our everyday objects such as mobile phones.  William Hague was launching the "Resources that Don’t Cost the Earth" report to which the SHU team contributed a case study based on Hywel's presentation of the project which he gave to an international audience at the Embassy back Oct 2011.
